Assignment Due Tuesday April 11th

You must reply to this post as a comment in order to receive marks for this assignment!

In this assignment you need to find either the perimeter of the polygon or the area. For the perimeter questions you need to give the total distance and unit of measurement. For the area questions you must show the formulas that you will use, what numbers you use along withproper numbers into the formula and give the final answer.

Part 1 Find the Perimeter of the 2 following objects.

a)

b)

Part 2: Find the area for the given polygons. (Hint you might have to think of the shape as two seperate polygons in order to solve the problems.)

c)

d)

Have fun solving this assignment, and happy blogging everyone!!!

Mr. R

  • Assingment Due Tuesday April 11th

    Part 1: Find the Perimeter of the 2 following objects.

    a) 8cm x 2 = 16cm + 6cm = 22cm.
    b) 4cm x 4 = 16cm + 6cm = 22cm + 9cm = 31cm.

    Part 2: Find the area for the given polygons. (Hint you might have to think the shape as two seperate polygons in order to solve the problems.)

    c) 4cm x 2cm + 3cm x 2cm = 14 cm.
    d) 20mm x 30mm + 20mm x 30mm / 2 = 900.

    b)shape 1 is 100cm and shape 60 cm

  • I am going to do both of them even if I only have to do one.

    a. 3cm + 3cm + 8cm + 8cm = 22cm

    b. 4cm + 4cm + 4cm + 4cm + 3cm + 3cm + 3cm + 6cm = 31cm

    c. area = h·w
    2cm·4cm = 8cm (squared)
    3cm·2cm = 6cm (squared)
    8cm + 6cm = 14cm (squared)

    d. area = h·w
    20mm·30mm = 60mm
    20mm·20mm divide by 2 = 20mm
    60mm + 20mm = 80mm

  • Part 1:

    a) 22cm
    b) 31cm

    Part 2:

    c) 14cm2
    2 x 4 = 8cm2
    3 x 2 = 6cm2
    8 + 6 = 14cm2

    d) 900mm2
    20 x 30 = 600mm2
    600 % 2 = 300mm2
    600 + 300 = 900mm2

    c) (2 4)+(3 2)=14 cm2
    d) 30 20=60

  • These are the answers i got for this assignment.

    A) 8+8=16 3+3=6 16+6=22cm2

    B) 4x4=16 3x3=9 16+9=25 25+6=31cm2

    C)pt.1 2x4=8cm2 / 3x2=6cm2
    I got found these answers by pretending to cut the shape to make two different shapes. Then I used the formula Height times Width to get the asnwers fr the two.

    D) (rectangle)30x20=600mm2 (trianlge) 20x20=400 divided by 2=200mm2 For the rectanlge part I used the regular formula height times width which was 20 and 30. For the trianlge part I figured out where the dotted line was, and I know that the width is 20 because in the rectangle the 30 mm was already used up in that full 50 mm at the bottom, so I subtracted 50 from 30. I also found out that the diagnal part was 20 because across from the diagnal line was a 20 and I know that a numbers across from each other are the same. So my formula for the triangle is HxW divided by 2 equals area of trianlge and that eqalled 200mm2.

  • Part 1:

    a)
    3+8=11
    11x2=22

    b)
    4x4=16
    3x3= 9
    =25+6= 29cm

    Part 2:

    c)
    2x4= 8cm
    3x2= 6cm
    area=14cm

    d)
    30 x 20 = 600mm
    50mm - 30mm = 20mm
    20mm x 20mm = 400/2=200mm
    600mm + 200mm = 800mm

    hope you understand this..

  • Sorry Mr. Reece, I accidentally pressed published for my first comment. This comment is my real answer!!!!

    Part 1 Find the Perimeter of the 2 following objects.

    - To answer these 2 questions you add up all the sides.

    A)Answer:22cm
    Solution:
    Sides: 8+3+8+3 = 22cm

    B)Answer: 31cm
    Solution:
    Sides: 4+6+4+3+4+3+4+3 = 31cm

    Part 2: Find the area for the given polygons.

    C)Answer: 14cm 2

    Solution:
    To answer c, find the area of the rectangle first.Then find the area of the square and add the two totals.
    Formulas:
    Rectangle: height*width
    Square: height*width

    Rectangle: 2cm*4cm = 8cm
    Square: 3cm*2cm = 6cm
    8cm + 6cm = 14 cm 2

    D)Answer: 600cm 2
    Solution:
    To find the area of the parallelogram, you multiply the width by the height.
    Height: 20cm
    Width: 30cm
    30cm * 20cm = 600cm 2

  • 1. a) 8cm x 2 + 3cm x 2 = 22cm

    b) 4cm x 4 + 3cm x 3 + 6cm = 31cm

    2. c) formula is l x w = area
    4cm x 2cm = 8cm squared
    2cm x 3cm = 6cm squared
    8cm + 6cm = 14cm squared

    d) formula is l x w = area and (l x w) / 2 = area
    30mm x 20mm = 600mm squared
    50mm - 30mm = 20mm
    (20mm x 20mm) / 2 = 20mm squared
    600mm + 20mm = 620mm squared

    2.)add all the outside sides together.6cm+4cm+4cm+3cm+4cm+3cm+4cm+3cm=31cm

    3.) find the area of the rectangle first. then find the area of the square. to get the area multiply the height by the width

    2cm=width 4cm= height=2x4=8cm
    for square:
    2cm=height 3cm= width=3x2=6cm

    then you add it 8cm+6cm=14cm2
